The Bride ... 3rd stop of studio tour

The Artist's Statement:

"The color photo of a bride can be striking indeed, however for someone who might like to make that "extra" impression, not to mention begetting a new family heirloom, a museum-quality oil portrait over the sofa or mantlepiece will transport the viewer not only to the wedding, but into an art gallery itself."

It is the precept of the artist that a bride should be a "masterpiece" ... enough so that someone not even knowing the bride would delight in owning the painting. After all, would you turn down an original portrait of Rembrandt's wife Saskia if you had a chance to own it?

Photos tend to be more readily put away but a magnificient oil portrait still gracing the wall itself, can be pointed to a hundred or more years later and be said of, "That was my great-grandmother when she was married!"

How true! An original oil painting is a treasure; it doesn't deteriorate over the years; and it becomes an heirloom handed down from generation to generation. This is a masterpiece, Nance. Your in-house painter is truly an artist...a master.

Thanks for sharing this wonderful piece of art.

This is fantastic Nance....! I like the way the fabric flow over her skin, it seems to have a natural weight texture in it that is softly pressing against her body.... Ang ganda talaga Nance, thanks for sharing.... =D

thank you for visiting my blog. :-)

i enjoyed the images here - classic way to capture figures on canvas.

i remember an old professor of mine - carlos valino. he was schooled in the old style of painting and it was a wonder to watch him capture real-life people. he has a huge painting of his hanging in the main hall of the main library in u.p. and it never fails to awe me when i see it. one can feel the grit and power of war done in a classic form.

the painting here is very sensual and beautiful, and thank you for sharing it.

cheers!

hi palma -
i'm glad to hear that you like what you see here ... coming from you, that's quite a compliment! your works are of high quality indeed.

your professor must have been an excellent artist! to evoke that kind of feeling to a viewer, is a sign of success.

thanks for your visit and please come again!

am enjoying it, pepe. I shouldn't have started reading a book, though i love it, sometimes nothing is done around the house. I had a regular check up appt. last fri. and thought of bringing a book to read while waiting ... now it's hard to put it down. oh well, chores around the house can wait :)

I like this painting. It's a classic painting of youth; a youth in it's prime...very sensual. Di ba? He he he he

Nance said...

kneeko,
that's me too, i do it the easy way. but not hubby though, he is from old the school.

Norm,
you're welcome. just remind me each time you're nominated.

mevsy,
welcome to my blog! yeah, she's young, 18 at that time when this painting was painted. ahhh, the beauty of youth! lol

hi palma, pwede ba i-describe mo yung mga paintings ng prof mo na si Carlos Valino? Especially yung nasa library ng UP. Intrigued lang kami sa galing niya, according to your description. Thanks!
